WebA lot of old Florida terrazzo was covered with carpet. Tearing out carpet, tile, vinyl and everything else is an easy process, but tack strip and nail cause most of the damage we see on terrazzo. Most carpet padding was glued down. All the padding should be removed and the glue should be scrapped. WebA friend of mine has a dad who installs carpet for a living. Said he always recommends to take a 2x4 or some other board, place it over the nail strip and hammer away, all along the board. Probably best to use a rubber mallet so you don't decimate the wood. I think the height of the nails coming out are too small.
